Essential protection for insects
Numbers of flying insects have fallen drastically as natural food sources continue to dwindle. But bees, bumble-bees, butterflies, wild bees and even wasps are crucial for plant pollination and for preserving the balance of nature.
Our patented Insect Station is a drinking and feeding station in one. Flying insects are attracted by the blue paint. The sponge included can be soaked in syrup (e.g. sugar water) as a nectar substitute and placed in the middle. Solid food (e.g. pieces of fruit) can be placed on the inside edge. The water channel that runs all the way around the feeder acts as a watering place and also protects the food from ants.
We supply five cellulose sponges. One sponge can be used for a season if it is regularly kept moist. Being in direct sunlight will cause the sponge to lose its colour, but this will not affect its function. You can buy more sponges from the cosmetics trade or directly from us. Used sponges can be disposed of with wastepaper.
Added bonus for insect protectors
If you position the insect station approx. 4 m from your garden table and put out enough food, wasps and bees will much prefer to rest there, leaving you to enjoy your coffee and cake in peace.
Easy to clean
You should clean the Insect Station every three days in summer using a soft brush and a very small amount of neutral soap. Then rinse well.
Frostproof ceramic
Insects need food and water from spring until autumn. If the water channel freezes over during the colder months, this will not harm the ceramic.
Stainless steel stand
The stainless steel stand raises the Insect Station off the ground and makes it easier to position in your garden. The stand also fits our waxburner and vice versa.
